A question of money...

If we compare honestly – taking inflation into account – LEGO prices haven’t actually gone up that much. But those are statistics, it’s the money in your wallet that counts.

Inflation is high, rents are rising – and consumer goods in general ‘seem’ to be getting more expensive – and in many cases they are, everyone will make comparisons with products that have sometimes been in the shopping cart for years.

So who can afford as much LEGO as a few years ago? Who less? And who would be reluctant to take a detour to the LEGO department?

“I feel good”

Since we started 2TTOYS, 20 years ago, there have been repeated critical voices about LEGO's pricing policy. However, the number of critical voices has increased noticeably in the last two years - even with very nice kits, the comments are often about the price.

Our opinion is very clear here: LEGO itself and 2TTOYS are business companies that need some margin to survive. Supply and demand – the whole program, as our Minister of Finance would say. The latest figures also make it clear: LEGO is doing well, sales are increasing, so business-wise the group seems to be doing everything right.

But: does the success perhaps have to do mainly with the ever-increasing sets for the 'older building elite'? There are still many sets in the entry-level segment under 20 euros. But especially the adult builder will probably be amazed by the sets in the LEGO Store that are assembled in the display cases: prices of 200 euros and more are no longer the exception, but the rule...
